Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope you've been enjoying the day. Kaya and I didn't do too much. We had a small dinner with Kit, Madeleine and Addy. It was nice. Now Kaya and I are just relaxing. Kaya's reading a magazine and has Zip on her lap. Licorice and Pounce are sleeping on the floor.

I just wanted to say that I'm thankful for my family, my friends, the wonderful doll town I live in, my kitties, my toys, a warm home...I'm thankful for Missy and Grandlinda...and I'm thankful for everyone who reads and likes this blog :)

10 Days til' Thanksgiving; 39 Days til' Christmas (and my birthday)

It's hard to believe it's mid-November already. Pretty soon Thanksgiving will be here and then Christmas (which also happens to be my birthday :) ). I'm not yet sure what to get Kaya. Maybe I'll make her something. I also have no clue what I'm doing, birthday-wise. Probably nothing much. I love having my birthday on Christmas...though sometimes I wish it were on an ordinary day instead of such a big holiday. There's so much hustle and bustle during the holidays and whatnot. Still, a Christmas birthday is nice-and Christmas itself is one of my favorite holidays, too. So I'm lucky to share my birthday with it.

Anyway, I'm just sitting here, in my Lizzie McGuire PJs, with my kitten, Zip, on my lap, purring. He's so adorable!

Have any of you begun listening to Christmas music yet? I have. I love Christmas music and even sometimes get in a mood to listen to some in say, the summer. I think Kaya and I are going to get our decorations out soon, too. I'm really waiting for the first snow to stick, so I can really get into the spirit :).

Trick or Treating

So...last night was Halloween. If you're wondering what I went as, well the holiday present that my cousin, Kit, told me to add to my poll, won...great... I wasn't really wanting to be it. Anyway, Kit helped me make my costume last-minute. She and Kaya both said I looked cute. I wasn't feeling cute and was almost mortified when we went to Madamoiselle Ann's house, first. She told me not to be embarrassed (something which the other adults in town echoed). In the end I wound up having fun trick or treating as always. I got some nice compliments on my costume and while it's still not in my favorites list, I have to admit that it grew on me a bit. I'm a Christmas birthday girl, too, so it fit well.

Kaya went as a Fall leaf and had a pretty mask; she borrowed Josefina's summer dress to wear. Halfway through, we met up and walked with Hallie and Molly J. I got some nice goodies, like a bracelet, a little grim ghosty (not sure if it's really a ghost or not. To me, it looks like a black ghost with a red tie and is cute) and of course candy.

I also entered the AGPT costume contest for Creative Use of Materials.

Here's a pic of me in my costume:

T. Haley's Visit, Along with T. Sophie and T. Ruthie

Hi guys,

A few weeks ago, Haley visited us. First she had a detour in CT. While she visited, she went to the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion and Yankee Candle (it's like a tradition that Missy and Grandlinda take the traveling dolls there). She was here, along with Traveling Sophie and Traveling Ruthie, at one point. That's the most travelers we've had at one time! Haley, Sopie and Ruthie also went apple-picking and to the Keene Pumpkin Fest. Likewise, Haley and Ruthie took a trip to AGB-B.

Haley, Kirsten and Samantha also made some ghosts pops which Kirsten says she'll post about soon (she and Peter haven't been feeling well the past few days and even missed out on trick or treating last night.

Anyway, sorry I didn't get around to posting these when Haley was here. She left here on the 20th and Sophie left on the 27th (Ruthie's here until the Winter Fest). Here is Haley's album as well as one from their AGB trip, apple-picking the three travlers did, and the Pumpkin Fest.

Costume...

Before I go to bed, I was just wondering what you think I should be for Halloween? I can't choose (well there's one on the list I don't really want to be but Kit told me I should totally add it...cousins, lol). Halloween is coming up quickly. Kaya and I still have to decorate our room.

There's a poll over on the right where you can submit your answer.

Adventures in CT and NYC :)

Hi! Sorry I haven't posted about my vacation yet-I've been a bit busy-school can do that, lol.

A few weeks ago, some of us joined Missy and Grandlinda on their vacation. First, on Sept. 27th, Marina, Traveling Sophie and Grandlinda's Felicity and Annie all spent a day at the Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, exploring boats and seeing marine animals.

Then, from the 28th-3oth, I got to spend a few days in NYC where I got meet Inky, see Violet again and have a fun time at the Bronx Zoo and NYC Ballet! It was so much fun! We had a pillow fight my first night there and I went to AGPNY and succeeded in my Secret Mission Ice Bat mission-he's soooo cute!

The day after Missy and I got back to her grandma's house, we had a knock on the door from a confused girl-it was Traveling Haley! She was shocked at first to find out that she was in CT until Marina and Annie explained it to her (I'll post more about Haley soon).

Here is an album of both the others' day at Mystic and my NYC adventure! Enjoy all the photos!

Vacation!

Hey guys,

First of all, the Star Valley block party last month was really fun! Nancy and I competed in the three-legged race. We didn't win but we placed! And...I won the talent show! I was really nervous and sang "Part of Your World" along to the CD but I tried to sing louder than the CD. I was really surprised; I didn't think I did well. Some of the residents were surprised I got up there on the stage; I'm usually shy and quiet. Samantha N. got a close second with her singing "A Parting Blessing" (I think she did better than me and should have won). Felicity got third in the talent show with a poem recitition.

Anyway, I'm wicked excited! Next week, Marina and I, along with GrandLinda's Annie and Felicity, and Traveling Sophie, are going to be spending the week at Missy's grandma's house. Marina is going to the Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, which she's really excited about.

As for me-I'm going with Missy for a few days, to NY and I'm going to be staying with Inky! We've been wanting to meet each other; Shirley met her last summer. I heard Violet might still be there, visiting, too :)

While in NY, I'm going to be on a mission. I've been wanting my own Uglydoll for quite awhile now-specifically Secret Mission Ice Bat. But we haven't found him yet (besides online or a non keychain (doll-sized) version). So, hopefully I can find him.

I'll be sure to take some pics next week ;)

~Susie M. Kent

P.S. Now if only this week would go by faster!
P.P.S. Happy first day of Fall!

Video News

Hey guys,
Jess here :D So...Missy's been getting really itchy lately, thinking about making some new non-doll movies/videos and, of course, doll ones. I don't know why she's getting itchy but she got a new camcorder! It's not here yet but I hope it'll be here before Sophie and Molly visit this weekend! Do you even have to ask why I hope it'll get here? So I can film a new web show episode of course! Now I'll be able to use the camcorder instead of the digital camera-read-better quality! And...we'll be able to see what's on camera WHILE we're filming, because of the flip-out lcd screen camcorders have-yeah!!!!

Also, Susie, Megan and I are starring in a short stop-frame. We filmed the first scene on the digital camera but might re-film on the camcorder. Neither video will be up for a little while yet, as we have to film and Missy has to get firewire stuffs (to be able to transfer the video to the computer to edit; I hope she gets it soon). The camcorder will be a nice upgrade-the digital camera has been fairly good but let's face it...digital cameras are better at photos and camcorders are better at videos. Actually, Missy has another camcorder but it can't hook to her computer or anything, so it was just used for practice stuff, basically. Though she did film a feature-length stop-frame a few years ago but says that much has changed in Star Valley since then. She also had to film it in order. With the new camcorder, she'll be able to film out of order and edit, which she's excited about.

I can't wait to film my new web show episode! You'll just have to wait and see what it'll be about-because I don't even know yet! I'm also excited for the new short stop-frame, hehe. It's a fun one!

Tootles,
Jess

All About Tessa

Hi! Susie is letting me post on her blog so I can tell you a little bit about myself. I just came here, from AGB-B, on Sunday. My name is Tessa Joyce Daniels and I'm a My AG #31. I'm 12 years old and in the 6th grade. Earlier this year, in the early spring, I was playing at a friend's house. We were near her pond and I slipped and fell in! Luckily I wasn't in the water for long but it was freezing and I got a really bad cold and ear infection. Well, one morning, I woke up and the pain from the ear infection was gone...but I couldn't hear anything in my right ear! I went to the doctor and he told me that I'll probably never be able to hear in my right ear again. After I heard the news, I cried for awhile. After my cry, I became determined that I wouldn't let this get the best of me. After all, I'm still the same old me who loves to swim, dance, hang out with friends and read magazines. I just had a new challenge.

Even though it's been a few months, I'm still getting used to only being able to hear in one ear. My friends have to talk a bit louder to me sometimes and they say I also talk louder now. I just don't realize I'm doing it. It's sorta like if you have headphones on and are talking to someone; sometimes you wind up talking louder to hear yourself over the music but you don't realize you're doing it (it's not quite the same but that's the best example I could think of-does that make sense?)

I'm going to start learning sign language, which will help in places and situations where I have to be really quiet (like a library). I want to teach the friends I'm making here; it would be neat to start a class afterschool. I hope some of the others are interested. I admit that before I became deaf in one ear, I hadn't given much thought to learning sign language but now I see how it's a good language to know.

My favorite colors are purple, pink and green. I'm a bubbly, friendly girl and I love dogs, especially huskies. I just got a puppy; his name is Pepper and he is the most adorable husky in the world! My favorite movies are Bring It On, Brave New Girl, Raise Your Voice, Gotta Kick it Up, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies. I love the Sisterhood books, too, and Chrissa's books.

Well, I think that's pretty much all there is to know. Oh, I'm on Innserstar U, too. My ID is Tessa12 (it works since that's my age ;) ).

Here are a few more photos of me:

A photo of me and my new friends Annie (Grandlinda's newest doll, #17) and Solana (Auntie Jenny's newest doll, #47), outside of AGB-B:

Doll Decisions

Hey guys,

Nothing too much is going on right now. Jess, Jenny's Julie and Grandlinda's Peggy (fka Kit) had a jam session this evening, on their guitars. They said they had a lot of fun. Julie will be going home on Sunday and Addy will be coming home; we've all missed her!

Jess is trying to convince Missy that she does not need both #19 and #31. Missy has been trying to decide between #31 (Tessa) & #19 (Brooke) or just Tessa. After hearing both their bios, I think most of us would like Tessa to join us more (though Brooke sounds nice, too). Missy says she likes #31/Tessa more, too, and thinks the True Style outfit would be better fitted for Tessa. Plus Tessa has the Licorice Fun outfit waiting & she's planning to get the yoga outfit for her. The dress Mischa helped make could easily be for Tessa, too. #31 has also (besides almost turning into wanting #50 instead) been on her list constantly wheras #19 has been on and off more than once. Missy said she feels like she's pretty much at all the 18" AGs she wants, too. She still plans to get MAC Keisha and Chloe someday and perhaps, if she really wants one, she may get a Gotz Little Sister someday or perhaps one more future historical or GOTY.

So, I think Missy will just get Tessa, who will be the one coming home on Sunday (and joining Innerstar U, for those already on it). I'm almost so positive I just want to make a "Welcome, Tessa" banner right now.

Anyway, it's really late, so I'm going to go to bed now. 'Night!

Mischa's New Sundress & More

Mischa is visiting me right now and she wanted to post on here, so take it away, Mischa!
~Susie

Hi everyone. First off, I got a new sundress yesterday! It's green with polkadots and is trimmed with purple (my favrite color) and yellow ribbon. I also got a maching purple headband. It's the pretty much same style as Chrissa's sundress. I love it! Shirley also got a sundress-hers is the Gwen Meet dress; we had some photos taken yesterday. Here's one of me:

And my sissy-I think she looks picture perfect here!

Also, guess what? I get to go to AGB next month! Grandlinda's Emily is coming, too, and so is Auntie Jenny's Mia :) Addy and Julie will both be coming/going home that day, too.

I'm helping Missy make a sundress for the new girl who will be coming. The dress is similar to mine only it's purple with flowers and butterflines and will have an A-line skirt. The new girl's name is Brooke and she has brown hair and green eyes (she's a #19). I asked Missy what she knows about her and I asked if I could be the first doll from here, to meet her. Here's what I know about Brooke. Her full name is Brooke Astrid Jennings and she's in the 6th grade (I hope she won't mind a 4th grader like me). She's gone to private school her whole life and is from a pretty welthy family, but like Samantha, she's kind and generus, not snobby. In Star Valley, Brooke will be going to the Primrose Academy for Young Ladies (in Daisy Hollow), like Samantha J., Samantha N., Nellie, Hope, Jenny and Bridget. I don't know anything else but I'll let you know when she comes-or maybe Susie will let her post about herself.

That's it for now.

~Mischa Adams

PS. Here's one more photo of Shirley and me:

As Told By Susie

As you can probably see, I decided to change the title of my blog. "Happenings in and Out of Star Valley" was a long title and I wanted to shorten it. Plus this is my blog-I just let some of my friends post once in awhile, hehe. I also wanted to create my own title image.

One of my favorite cartoons is As Told By Ginger, so that's where my new blog title, "As Told By Susie" comes from. I even looked at some pics of Ginger and decided to try to do a similar type of pose. I tried a few different ones before going with the one you see in the blog title image. Here's the pose of Ginger that my pose is inspired from: http://www.nick-asia.com/tvshows/shows/Nicktoons/As_told_by_ginger/ginger_foutley.php

With the new title came changing the layout. I'm very indecisive about some things and so it took me a couple hours to figure out what I liked. I tried using a starry background but it wasn't working-though it was a pretty background...why can't you use your own background image on here? So, finally I decided on the current colors. What do you think of the new title and layout?

Here are a couple of other pics from my little photoshoot for the title image:

Who am I waving at?, lol

This looks like a pose for jeans ad

Lastly, here is the full view of my title-image pose. I really like how it came out :)

School's....Almost Out

School is dragging on...but we only have a week left! Last week, Jess brought her camera in and she set it up on Mrs. Halliwell's desk and did a candid camera. She aked some weird questions and it was funny! Well, until she got caught. She had to stay after the rest of the week, I guess.

We got math sheets back, last week and I...um...didn't do so well on mine. I have to study extra hard for the test coming up on Monday! Eek! I'm gonna fail, I know it. It gives me knots in my tummy just thinking about it :/ Kaya and I are going over to the Halliwell's tomorrow and maybe Nikki will study with me. Though she doesn't like studying and isn't looking forward to the test either. But she does pretty well in her classes. Maybe I'll call Marina and see if she wants to study with me, too, tomorrow. Studying with a friend is much better than alone! Marina, Gwen and I studied together in class, yesterday.

We also have a spelling test. I messed up on chocalate chocOlate when we spelled words out loud last week. choc-o-late...choc-o-late...choc-o-late...

In other news, nothing much is going on. Auntie Jenny's Julie is visiting. Right now she's with Jess and Kirsten. Jess says they're going to jam together on their guitars. Addy is staying with Auntie Jenny and her dolls. Auntie Jenny wasn't sure whether she wanted an Addy and Missy wasn't sure whether she wanted a Julie. She thinks she'll get Julie sometime, but her hair will be cut shorter, to match the books. A #50 and #19 are also on the list. Not sure who will come here first. I think Missy, Auntie Jenny and Grandlinda will go to AGB sometime this summer. If Missy gets someone there, it'll either be Julie or #19 and the other will come next year.

So...what do you guys think of my LMPT entries so far? Wait...maybe I don't want to know...I don't know if they're good or not. I mean I think they are but there's a lot of tough compatition. I highly doubt I'll win (I'm guessing who will win but won't say right now) but as long as someone out there likes my entries, it's good. Okay, I'll be sad if none of my photos place but...I guess we'll just have to see.

~Susie

PS. Since this entry has to do with school, here's my ABC LMPT entry. Shirley and I were putting up "Happy June" on the class bullatin board.

I finished my LMPT entries today :) They were all so fun to come up with the ideas and take. I can't wait to see who else entered and see all the entries. Wish me luck! I'll probably need it, haha.

LMPT

Hey guys :)

Guess what? I'm going to be in LMPT this year! (That's Little Miss Playthings, in case you didn't know). I can't wait! I've taken one photo already and am going to try to do two tonight. One of my best friends, Marina, is hopefully doing Miss Simply AG and there's a joint photo we want to do (we both want to enter it).

It's fun trying to come up with ideas for the entries and I hope I do okay. Mischa, Kit and Felicity have been in LMPT before and have been giving me some tips. Kaya has been cheering for me as I take photos, lol. She got a new cheer costume from her Spring Basket person, along with lots of toys-Neopets and My Little Ponies! We've been playing with them a lot lately. The kitties try to take the smaller toys from us though. They're so adorable.

Well, I've got to go for now, so I can get a couple more entries done. Maybe I'll get them done by the end of this weekend. Though I do have to do homework this weekend, too...blah! I'm not doing the best in math and science and social studies...um...oops? Marina and I are going to get together and do homework tomorrow ;)

My web show ep #6

Hey guys! remember how I told you I was going to AGB last Monday? It was awesome! I even had thought the night before, I could make a web show episode on location there! So that's just what Peggy and I did :) (Peggy is Grandlinda's fka Kit for those who don't know). It was so fun making the web show episodes-it's my favorite one so far! We got an exclusive interview with GOTY 2010 Lanie Holland! And we took some fun photos with the others. It's on youtube or you can watch it right here:

The Jessica McConnell Show: Episode 6

Here are a few photos!

This one was in a bathroom in the main mall-I love the angle of it!

Peggy and a #28 pose for the camera :)

Me holding an MVP trophy for soccer-because I'm an MVP, hehe!

Missy got the Vacation outfit, which I am wearing right now because I get to model it for a review for AGPT, and the Petal Hoodie outfit. Nicki is wearing and going to model that one. Neither of the outfits are for us though...bummer. They're both for the Christmas doll this year. Blah. Maybe we'll become friends...and then we can borrow each other's clothes-then I could wear the Vacation outfit because it looks awesome pawesome on me! I look awesome pawesome in everything! Because I'm Jess, hehe! I did a get a souvenir penny though-that's cute. It has Johnny Appleseed on it.

Anyhoo, I've gotta go. We've gotta clean up our cabin again (in Star Valley, I mean). Then maybe I'll go eat an apple, hehe. TTYLsies!

AGB

Hey guys, Jess here! On Monday me and Peggy (one of Grandlinda's dolls) are going to AGB-B. It'll be so fun, hehe. Missy wants to get the Vacation outfit PWP if it's still available but...it won't be for me! No...she said it'll be for this year's Christmas doll! Grrrrsies! I probably won't get any souvenir. If she has some extra $, she might buy sneakers for someone...wait-I might need sneakers still! Oh...wait...I have some already (Kirsten borrows them sometimes, when she's not wearing her historical footsiewears).

And I can't drive the car. I like trying to drive but I like to go fast! And Grandlinda said Peggy and I have to sit in the back. No fun. Maybe I'll try to take some neatsie photos-like with Lanie and everyone. *Sighs* At least I get to go!

-Jess

Friday, March 19, 2010

Blah...my life is pretty boring at the moment. Just school and playing dolls with Kaya. Okay so the playing dolls is fun! So is cuddling our kitties :)

Nothing much has been going on in town though. Megan's friend, Alison, recently moved here. They're both Magic Attic Club dolls, along with Heather, Rose and Rosalind.

Kaya and I have managed to keep our room clean. But we still have chores. Today mine are washing dishes and making the bed. I already made our bed. But dishes? Ugh. I guess I'll pretend all the silverware are synchronized swimmers or something, lol.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Hey :)

Like Inky, I've decided to move my blog over for a couple reasons. The main one is that Blogspot seems more popular for us dolls. Hardly anyone updated lj anymore.

Anyhoo, I moved some of the old entries over to here (back until summer 2008). There were a lot of entries so I probably won't post the rest. Also, Jess and Felicity will still post here sometimes (it's mainly my blog but they share it, too) and once in awhile maybe one of the others. We usually sign our names under our posts, so you'll know who wrote what.

Also, for those who don't know. Some posts maybe about what's happening in our little town, Star Valley (it's a doll town that we usually live in). Other posts maybe about life outside of Star Valley, like hanging with our owner, Melissa; going to AGB or something. See, we go back and forth between living in SV and hanging out with Melissa. We're dolls so we can do that, hehe. So, many posts might include a little of both ;)

Nothing too much is going on right now except that dinner is almost ready. So, I guess I'll end here for now.

(Old Posts from lj start here and go down)

Susie just reminded me that I haven't posted since summer! Yikies! She said she was going to take me off the avvie list but noooooo!!!!! She can't do that-I'm Jess! The awesomest dollie ever-EVER!!!!!!! But now the icons are down to Susie, Felicity and myself, plus the Coconut one. We're the three who seem to post the most, I guess. But of course since it's technically Susie's lj, she can make Lissie and I use the Coconut avvie, too-but you don't want that to happen do you? *You shake your head, no.* Good, I didn't think so.

Anyhooey, guess what?! If you haven't checked Cherished Playtime in awhile, shame on you. Just kidding. But, I have my OWN page on there for...

*drumroll*

My Webshow!!!!! The Jessica McConnell Show!!!! It's awesome! I really should film a new episode soon-just need to get an idea, hehe. Actually I have part of one in mind :) It involved the new girl, Gwen, and something we (Melissa's dolls) and Grandlinda's dolls got for Christmas from Molly J.'s mom/first owner. Oh and btw, Molly J. is now Melissa's. She was Grandlinda's before and for a little bit Melissa wasn't sure if she was going to get her Molly. But Grandlinda had said that Molly J. would be hers sometime and the Melissa kept talking about Molly and so in the fall, Grandlinda gave Molly J. to Melissa-totally sweet isn't it? Molly is actually sleeping over in Kirsten's and my cabin tonight and says 'hi!'

But this post is about the awesomeness that is my webshow! So, if you haven't seen any or all of the episodes yet, go here. And email me suggestions for what you'd like to see in future episodes :)

~Jess

Happy January

Hey guys, sorry for not posting much. I guess it kept slipping my mind. I have some homework to finish-blah. Penmanship and math-yuck! I really don't want to do it but I have to...

I hope everyone's 2010 is going well so far. It's almost Feb already.

Cherished Playtime (Melissa's doll site) has a Facebook group now :) It's awesome and is called Cherished Playtime Fans. It has 10 members so far :)

Other than school for us dolls, nothing too much has been going on. We did great in the Nutcracker performance. It was a lot of fun as always and I don't think I made too many mistakes ;) The winter festival in general was fun as usual! It was only one day because the first day, it snowed a lot. But that's okay. I always love going to it-it's just not the holidays without it!

Gwen Thompson and Sarah Williams and Anna Larson moved to Star Valley, on Christmas. Gwen is Grandlinda's doll and Sarah and Anna are Melissa's-Anna is a Ty kitty. Ooh and I got a Mini Ruthie doll for Christmas/birthday! She's so pretty; she and my mini Nellie became best friends instantly!

Oh, Gwen and I have a ton of things in common: 1. We both have blond hair 2. We both have brown eyes 3. We both are in 5th grade 4. We're both shy and 5. we were both born on Christmas! It almost seems like we should be long lost twins or something but we're not related at all. It's just such a major coincidence. And, I mean, she's nice and all and we get along...but still! But, I came here on Christmas 2005 (and am awesomer, lol!) There's only one Susie Kent that I know of-me and many Gwen Thompsons. But anyway...

I have to get off the computer now, before I get in trouble for not doing my homework. I'm supposed to do it before Sunday, so I get it done on time but I have a bad habit of procrastinating.
